Cara is the co-owner of Bliss & Co. and also works as a stylist behind the chair. She has been licensed 28 years as a hairstylist, however she feels like her hair days started way earlier. Cara says that she views hair and working with hair as her favorite form of entertainment. She also sees herself as a true people person and is open and accepting of all types of people and loves finding out what makes someone unique and individual.

Cara feels that her success as a stylist has come first and foremost from continually participating in educational classes and events. In her first year of doing hair she found her passion for precision cutting and customized hair color while attending the Jingles academy in NYC. Some of her advanced education highlights include Wella International Color and Cut academy in Los Angeles, Lanza advanced haircutting in Milan, Italy, the Balayage academy at L’Oreal, New York City, Vidal Sassoon Classic cut training, San Francisco, Paul Mitchell’s Signature Gathering, Las Vegas and many, many more. Cara also worked as an advanced educator with Framesi International, Wella International, and the one dearest to her heart, John Paul Mitchell Systems. She has had the opportunity to travel and learn from top educators and work side by side with industry icons all over the US. She has worked as a national trainer with Paul Mitchell Systems and as a platform artist while running two busy salons and having a thriving clientele.

In 2014 Cara met, and soon thereafter, married the love of her life and his two children, and now lives in Danville, Virginia.  She has an hour commute to and from work daily Tuesday-Thursday but loves to spend her ride time listening to podcasts and educational classes about how to keep Bliss & Co. at the top of our game while creating the best customer service experience available. If you sit in Cara’s chair, you can be sure that she will be open to listening to your hair dreams and goals, and will devise a plan to achieve it that will truly make you feel like you’re in hair Bliss. Cara has a very busy schedule but encourages you to get on her wait list, as cancellations do come up. She never wants to close her book to receiving new clients, but does have intense loyalty to her long time supporters.

Heather is the co-owner of Bliss & Co. and also an incredibly talented stylist behind the chair. Heather brings 23 years of experience in the beauty industry to each and every one of her clients. She has attended numerous cutting and color classes and events throughout the US and Europe. Heather is a master haircutter and has honed her skills at some of her favorite academies such as Toni & Guy, London, the L’Oreal Academy, New York City, and Vidal Sassoon, San Francisco. On any given day in the salon you will find Heather working with a variety of cut and color guests along with her large clientele of male guests who love her no nonsense approach and super fast fading, tapering and cutting techniques. Another plus, each of her male clients enjoys a hot towel facial steam at the end of each cut with Heather. Heather likes to make her guests feel 100% comfortable in “their own skin.” She enjoys the variety that the beauty business provides her, both with her clients and the many things required to run a busy salon, celebrating its 16th year in business. Heather always makes her clients feel at ease, strives to be honest about what will work best for her clients hair, and prides herself on always being “on time.” As a busy mom of two herself, she knows how important her time and her clients time is and she doesn’t waste any of it! In her free time she enjoys working out, running and pushing herself to be her best self. She enjoys family time with her husband and kiddos. Diana first began her endeavors at Bliss as Cara’s assistant in August of 2020 and quickly began taking on her own clients in January of 2021. Diana gives the best shampoos, treatments, and waxes you will ever receive and she also loves to work with brunettes and do perms. Diana strives to give each client an amazing experience in the salon and keep their hair looking healthy and happy. She stays up to date with hair health, new techniques and client needs. While continuing her education in hair she also plans to be certified in extensions, micro blading and airbrush makeup. Diana is also a very talented makeup artist! There is no hairstyle or makeup look too daunting for her. She is meticulous and attentive to all the details of all that she does, paying attention to every detail. 

Brittany Cook, stylist

Brittany developed her passion for hair during childhood when she couldn’t find anyone who knew how to properly care for her hair. She’s made it her mission to learn about all different textures and types of hair so no one has the same difficulties she had growing up and hopes to someday open a full service day spa. When she’s not busy here at the salon you can find her playing with her 6 (yes, 6!) dogs and running a dog breeding business in her hometown of Browns Summit, NC.

Darlene Steffen, Stylist

After moving from Brockport, NY in November of 2020 Darlene has made NC her new home. She has been perfecting her hair artistry for the past 22 years and has been with us at Bliss since May of 2021. Darlene always had an artistic flair and at a young age her mom nudged her to go to beauty school and her passion for hair blossomed. Darlene loves making clients feel confident and likes getting to know each and everyone who sits in her chair. Her favorite services she offers are up-dos, highlights and haircuts but can do anything you throw her way. Outside of the salon her husband, three sons and adorable dog Shelby enjoy exploring all NC has to offer and hosting visiting family members especially her two older sons who still live in New York. Aside from being an amazing hair stylist Darlene is also an amazing cook and not just any cook, a vegan one! Darlene is thrilled to grow at Bliss and build a new clientele in NC.

Growing up in Burlington, Hannah’s dream was always to be a hairstylist. Starting as Cara’s assistant in May 2021, she enjoys doing highlights and creating original updos. With an eye for quality and a passion for enhancing beauty, she ensures her clients’ hair goals are achieved. We are proud to have her with us as she continues cultivating her skills as she works towards being a runway stylist in New York City! Outside of work she enjoys meeting new people and spoiling her two Shih Tzus, Bella and Harley.
